In 2010 Thierry and Marie Delaunay purchased 3 hectares of vines planted on the same slope as Domaine Joël Delaunay and cultivated in organic agriculture for several years now.
We decided to name this range “La Brossette” as the parcels are situated on the small “street de la Brosse” in the Pouillé village. All that was left was to find a mascot and a small hedgehog made its appearance.
We vinify a Touraine rosé and a Touraine red with Gamay and Cabernet Franc grapes. Today a white Brossette, from Sauvignon, completes the range. This one is vinified with grapes certified ECOCERT from one of our partner estates in Touraine.
We have continued the organic farming method started by our predecessor, by taking over this Estate, in a desire to cultivate and vinify the vineyard, thus we express our attachment to the original terroir of the slopes.
Our main objectives are:
We cultivate the soil between the rows of the Domaine de la Brossette to contain the weed development. In addition, respecting the soil helps to boost the vine’s root development.
The natural herbal surface, called cover planting, is also present between the rows to fight erosion and to help the microbial growth of the soil.
Our pruning woods are burnt in order to avoid cryptogamic vine diseases.
Our Wines de la Brossette are vinified in the stainless-steel tanks which give perfect conditions for the expression of the characters of the Gamay and Cabernet Franc grapes as well as the clay with flint terroir where they are planted.
Controlled by Ecocert, the certifying organization, our practices are conform with a European organic winemaking specification.
Our objective is to respect the natural balance of our wines with as little interventions as possible.
